Metal braces consist of small metal brackets attached to the front of each tooth and joined together with a wire by placing small elastic bands over each bracket. You can choose different coloured bands to suit your taste or maybe your favourite football team. As the brackets are stuck onto the teeth it is not possible to take the brace off during treatment.
A more modern alternative to metal braces are self-ligating brackets, which use small metal clips to keep the wire in place instead of elastic bands. Self-ligating braces are technologically advanced and designed to reduce treatment times and use lighter forces during treatment.
