NHS treatment is available to patients under the age of 18 years, however due to strict guidelines, treatment for minor problems or cosmetic reasons would not normally qualify for treatment under the NHS.
Children with more complex orthodontic problems usually qualify for NHS treatment which will be entirely free. We aim to see patients for their initial consultation within six weeks of referral when we can confirm eligibility and advise patients of our waiting list for treatment. Once the brace is fitted patients will need to visit for regular adjustments every 4 – 8 weeks. These appointments take place from 9.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday with the orthodontist or orthodontic therapist. Brace treatment normally takes approximately 18 months to complete.
We extend the same high quality of service to our patients regardless of treating privately or under the NHS, however those that choose to have private treatment will benefit from our out of school appointment times and a greater choice of appliance. For patients not eligible for NHS treatment we would be more than happy to discuss the option of private care and our various finance schemes.
